Nvidia used the opening of GTC Taipei today to announce that TSMC, the world’s largest contract chipmaker, will run a widening share of its design and manufacturing workloads on Nvidia accelerated computing. The goal, as the two companies framed it, is faster turnaround, better energy efficiency, higher yield, and tighter operational productivity inside TSMC’s advanced fabs.

At its 2026 North America Technology Symposium, TSMC unveiled a roadmap that highlights where the world’s largest contract chipmaker is placing its boldest bets and where it is choosing restraint.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) filed a lawsuit Tuesday against former senior vice president Lo Wei-jen, alleging he will likely leak trade secrets to Intel Corp. after joining the rival chipmaker immediately upon retirement. TSMC cited alleged violations of Lo’s employment contract, non-compete agreement and Taiwan’s trade secret law in the complaint filed in Taiwan’s Intellectual Property and Commercial Court. The lawsuit seeks damages for breach of contract. Lo retired from TSMC on July 27 after 21 years and immediately joined Intel as executive vice president.

TSMC has experienced an 11% drop in its stock price over the past five months, making it the most significant decline among Asian stocks. Goldman Sachs Group has lowered its capital expenditure expectations for TSMC for next year by over 20%, citing concerns about the postponement of its overseas capacity expansion plan.
